Books i've read :))

The Wayfarer Series - Becky Chambers

I loveeeeee these books. i like how people are diverse and people are inclusive and they get things wrong and theyre sorry and things are bad but they turn out okay in the end <333

The Long way to A Small Angry Planet

I enjoyed this :D

A Closed and Common Orbit

The Jane plotline had me SOBBING and i did not go into this thinking it would be a sad book but woooof that tapped into some big feelings i cried on and off for like 3 hourss.
I kinda wish the prologue was a little longer and it was a bit hard to visualise but i loveddd this book.

Scientific Progress Goes Boink - Bill Watterson

The art in this is so lovely and expressive !! the strips are very funny as well

Under the Whispering Door - TJ Klune

I really enjoyed my time with this book and i did cry howeverr it is very flawed

Spoilers

I dont think the manager was really necesarry, like I understand the parallels of 'main charcater is a stuck of horrible boss' and 'now he has to deal with stuck up afterlife biss' but it didnt really work and made death seem too tangable. What annoyed me SO much was the manager constantly saying "i dont make deals" "this isnt a deal you know" when every time he shows up he makes a deal. e.g. "i dont make deal .. fine you can 7 more days to live in exchange for doing whatever" ???

.. and UGH i could see the ending coming from a mileee away but was hoping it would not happen. It is emphasised sooo many times that "you cant cheat death" "you can only go down the stream not back up" "reincarnation isnt real" and then of course when its finally time for the main character to move on to whats next after the pergatory bit, the managers like "i dont make deals.. okay you can be recarnated as a reaper!! this has never happened before!!" it makes the whole thing seem pointless. its nice he gets to live with the love interest and everything but he got the chance to turn around his life (too quickly imo) and work on himself and it was time for him to go..

Theres also something to be said about an angry white guy getting his emotional labour done for him by a group of people of colour who have pretty much infinate patience for him ,':/ but i dont think im quilified for that.

ALso some of the scenes felt like cartoon slapstick description of something live action and kinda didnt fit, like with the ouji board scene .

Overall i did like it and it got me thinking about desth and stuff but the ending was dissapointing.
